#GivingTuesday on December 1st 2015

Our vision at LINK of Hampton Roads is to break the cycle of poverty and homelessness in our area. We are a nonprofit organization founded in 1990, that exists to help people “help themselves” through education, advocacy, outreach and direct service programs.

Our programs include emergency services such as distribution of food and clothing; as well as long term support for over 30,000 individuals and families annually. We believe that homeless individuals are NOT HOPELESS, and as a community, we can help them.

Your donation on #GivingTuesday will support all of our homeless assistance efforts, including our flagship program: PORT – the largest Emergency Shelter on the Peninsula, responsible for hosting over 500 homeless men, women and children during the winter months.

Here is a short video explaining just a little bit of what we do:

Happy Holidays!

Dear Friends:

“Asking” for your support seems so natural as YOU are always generous with YOUR time and GIFTS bringing Peace and Joy to LINK’s clients year round! Every once in a while something extraordinary happens – something which touches our hearts and minds so deeply we cannot begin to express its impact with mere words.

LINK’s homeless programs continue to reach our community and in November 2013 LINK began the homeless Veterans Medical Respite program. It is the second pilot project in the USA! This is something extraordinary!

Our veterans are given 24/7 care that includes all meals, transportation, medical care by the Hampton Veterans Medical Center, all reflecting the qualities of the Spirit of love and kindness. Many of our veterans have come to LINK via the PORT winter shelter or are referred by the Hampton Veterans Medical Center. Some have been placed into LINK’s CANLINK Permanent Supportive Housing Program. Our veterans benefit from the ongoing in-kind gifts that you provide helping us to stabilize lives expeditiously.

I come to you during this Season of Giving, asking for your financial donation to support LINK’s services which includes this vital and exciting Veterans Medical Respite program. This, like LINK’s other programs, brings Hope and comfort to those who receive a warm, caring place to call Home.

Thank you for your gift that brings wellness into people’s lives… through LINK of Hampton Roads.

With grateful hearts and Peace,

Lynne Finding
Executive Director

Cliff’s House — Come Take A Tour!

LINK and Home Helpers Yorktown have entered into the business of private care, providing either temporary medical respite or long term care/hospice.

Our home is a beautiful rancher located on 1.5 acres in Seaford, with 24/7 care, meals, laundry, etc.

Residents can remain with us, even if they need more skilled care or hospice.

There is a simple month-to-month contract and you may either bring your own furniture for your chosen room, or use ours. There are three living areas for on-site activities and a wheelchair elevator should the need arise.

We are excited to offer this to the private sector and have been proudly conducting another partnership for medical respite for veterans for 13 months which is hugely successful and meets a gap for caring for our veterans.

Please call Lynne at 757.254.2424 or Gail at 757.989.0090 for more information or perhaps a tour of our facility.

Peace and Blessings this Holiday season!
Lynne and Gail
