About Link

Events

http://www.volunteerpeninsula.org/images/stories/feet.jpgHere is a great opportunity to raise money for LINK but we need your help and participation!  It's an annual event called The Human Race hosted by The Volunteer Center of the Virginian Peninsula. Individuals and non-profit organizations register and walk through the Newport News Park Celebration in Lights. This year it’s being held on Tuesday, November 24th from 5-7pm. All you have to do is sign a waiver participant form, ask your friends and family to sponsor you to walk, then show up on November 24th to walk. We could have an entire LINK team walk together! For each participant, it only requires a minimum donation of $8.00. Children under the age of 2 are free. We have to turn in the money and forms to the Volunteer Center by Nov 19th so you have until the November 17th to get sponsors, collect your money, and turn it all in.  DOWNLOAD FLYER

Message from the Director

Sadly Harriet Nachman Storm, one of the founding members of LINK of Hampton Roads, and current board member, passed away on  September 15, 2009.

Harriet was truly a community advocate and huge supporter of LINK.  Harriet spent many years working for and on behalf of the many people most at-risk through her association with the local Hampton-Newport News Community Services Board.

Thankfully, Harriet was one of the search committee who chose me to be the second executive dirctor of LINK and I'm sure Harriet will continut to be with us all in spirit, as we continue in the field of social justice and advocacy.

Our thoughts and prayers go out to the Nachman-Storm family, especially her children and grandchildren who were always her pride and joy.

Peace,

Lynne Finding/LINK of Hampton Roads, Inc

May 2009 - ARTISTS ON THE EDGE –The Peninsula Fine Arts Center and LINK of Hampton Roads partnered to present Artists on the Edge, an exhibition and fundraiser at Pfac, Friday, May 29, 2009. The event featured 20 artworks demonstrating the talents of artists who have experienced homelessness. According to LINK Operations Director Brenda Moore, “Every artist has a story, and that story is frequently reflected in their art. These artists bring a perspective that is only possible through their experiences. This art tells the story of an underrepresented part of our community.”
