"Together breaking the cycle of substance Abuse for High Risk Families"

PURPOSE:

  • To assist high risk families to break the cycle of substance abuse.

  • To provide a fun, user-friendly atmosphere for families (adults and children) to express themselves, be affirmed, develop positive alternatives, and make healthy choices.

  • To improve communication skills within the family

  • To provide a safe and supportive forum for families to develop new skills and strengthen family values

  • To support each family, as a whole, by meeting individual and family needs.

PROGRAM DESIGN:

  • Participants, referral services, volunteers, and LINK staff work as a collaborative team to identify individual and family strengths and needs, resources and concerns, and coordinate services to meet gamily goals.

SERVICES OFFERED:

  • Family

a. Review family concerns, support network, resources, positive changes, interests, and strengths
b. Determine family goals
c. Plan ways to meet goals utilizing:
  • Family/Youth Program
  • LINK Services
  • Other referrals
  • Multifamily support groups
  • Family Fun Events
  • Youth

  • Creative Arts activities offered after school, evenings, and weekends
  • Community Outreach Programs
  • "One-on-One" time with trained youth staff/mentor
  • Parent/Caregiver

  • Parenting Support Groups
  • Information, Education, Training, Consultation, Mentoring to address parent/caregiver needs and concerns

TARGET POPULATION:

  • Families with children 7-17 where one of the parents or caregivers has experienced problems related to substance abuse.  Also eligible are families receiving services through LINK or other agencies.

OUR GOAL:

  • To assist families with the support, resources, and opportunities need to decrease the impact of substance abuse and continued family crisis and poverty, by providing a holistic prevention program, a continuum of services for families ,and a Creative Arts Program for Youth.
